I am the Friends of the Shelter volunteer coordinator for our local shelter/humane society. Our shelter is located in Murray, KY and is an open-admission and hi-kill shelter. Today 1-10-2011, we had a white persian brought in that was an owner surrender. The owner reported they were ill and unable to care for him. He came into our shelter terrified and filthy. He had severe matting and smelled of urine because the matting was so bad. I called around and found a groomer willing to groom him and took him to her after first getting him his rabies vacc. and also feline leuk/fiv testing (negative). He is now free of mats and will be bathed tomorrow. He will also have his ears treated for mites. He has been an indoor kitty, but as I said, in horrible conditions. He, I named him Cotton, was very tolerant during the grooming. He seemed to like to sit on my lap, but got a bit fidgety when held. He has been through so much, I would expect that. We, our humane society, is very short on foster homes at this time, and we need to place him as soon as possible in an appropriate match of a home. He would prefer a quieter home without small children and will need regular brushing (as most longhairs do). Please email me directly if you are interested in adopting or are a rescue that could foster him in a setting other than a cage. Rescues must have references. I can send pictures or he can be viewed through our website at
