How the heck do you trim the claws on a 3.7lb, squiggly kitten with black claws in black fur? What do you use? My normal nail trimmers are too big. Human nail clippers are too big. What do you use? And how do you hold Miss "Ain't going to sit still for more than 5 seconds" long enough to find, extend, and clip the nail?

HELP!!!

RROFLMAO sorry Linda :D
ok the way i do my kids claws and keep in mind they are pretty ok with well 2 dont like being on their backs and for bb as he is solid and his rolls get in the way when doing the back paws But doing front paws no problems

are you right or left handed?? i am right handed so i place Molly who wont get on her back on the seat or lounge next to me on my left. With my left hand holdiing her left paw with my arm over and across her body to keep her in place. I gently put pressure under the paw pad so the nails are extended then with either right hand i move in to cut the claws. we have both kitten sciccors and a smaller pair of human nail clippers, i cut to just below where the nail curves. if it is very long and you can see the pink quick you can go closer. Then with the right paw i move my left arm/hand across the front of her chest from the left side and pull her close to me and put pressure to extend the right paw nails. hmmmmmm the back legs are harder as BB and APollo bunny kick Our Vet is amzing i call him is quick draw magraw lol he is so fast but he charges. I usually do hers when she is asleep and same with apollo as its way to uncomfortable for him he is too chunky Phoenix on the other had is amazing she just lays on her back and purrs.

good luck linda

Linda, I use human nail clippers and have for years. For kittens I have baby nail clippers. I know it is probably not feasible, but you could try wetting her paw when you do it - makes seeing the extended nail much easier. I usually trim nails after a bath on most of my cats (some get it before, just depends on how wild they get in the bath). Since I can not do it while wearing my glasses and I am so near sighted it is funny, I am right on top of them when I do it. I put them on the grooming table (anything comfortably high for you) facing to my side. I lean over them holding them against my body with my elbow of the hand I pick the paw up with, pick up the far paw and clip away. For the near paws, I reverse the direction they are standing - but I can use either hand to clip nails even though I am left handed. With a dark cat and dark nails I suggest doing it in very good light!

Make a Clarissa burrito... wrap her like a bundle in a towel and take out one paw at a time.. wet it and clip little razor sharp nails and then get the other paw and repeat...

She will be fit to be tied, but, you will be safe and the little razors will be trimmed.

when you've got it all figured out come and down and do Rosie's for me.
She is not little, but she hates to stand still - I usually comb her on the pool
table and look like a fool chasing her all around it

Yeah... I'm pretty sure someone made the burrito thing up, because I CANNOT GET IT TO WORK. PPP sits still for maybe two claws. MAYBE. She is impossible.

So, I buy a LOT of scratchy boxes to help keep those suckers trimmed down.

Okay, you totally forgot she's 3.8lbs!!! Teeny, tiny girlie. If I use a bath towel, she would be lost in it. And how am I to hold the teeny, tiny Clarissa burrito while I'm trying to get a paw out??? Me thinks I'll visit you this weekend and you can demostrate for me.
