I have not been around in a long time but I need some help before I got spending a lot of money.

My Sheba is 11 yrs old and we live in a 2 bedroom apartment and my husband and one of my son's and we have been living like this for like 3 yrs now. One of my daughters is here with her son and living on my couch and so many things all over the house and I don't have use of my desk nor my living room anymore. She don't like Sheba so she don't treat her nice. I try my best to spend time with Sheba and let her in my bedroom where she can sleep with me when everyone leave the house.

Now I have never ever had a problem with her peeing anywhere before but she is only doing it where my daughter is sleeping at. and she is doing it over and over again. That couch been here before my daughter was sleeping on it. My neighbor gave it to me and she had a dog.

Can someone please tell me what is going on? I think she don't like her.

She needs to go to the vet. She most likely has a bladder infection. She's peeing on the couch to tell you she doesn't feel well.

Sending hugs to Sheba

I agree with Kira. When cats pee on your belongings it usually means they are sick. Good Luck and please keep us updated.

While it could possibly be a bladder infection or related problem, personally I'm betting on Sheba being fine. From the description, this sounds like a classic case of Sheba telling your daughter what she thinks of her. My Spencer does something similar -- if I do something to upset him, he pees in the hallway. Your daughter doesn't like Sheba and well, Sheba doesn't like your daughter so she's peeing on the place where your duaghter's smell is strongest.

I still would have her vet checked, because it would rule out serious problems.

I just caught her in my large plant where there is a lot of dirt and the last time she did that was because she was in pain from the matting in her hide legs which is why when this happen I check to make sure she didn't have any matting but when I was holding her to cut the hair down under there the other night she dug her nails in my leg until there was blood. she has never done that before and this is something I do all the time clean her eyes and ears and then comb her out real good and she didn't want me near her bottom. I have found pee in my plant.

I was wondering if any of you ever tried the home meds pet lives? I don't have a lot of money at this time because I am disabled now and once they hit me with the visit and test and then there will be meds. I am looking at 80.00 just for the visit. I know if it don't work I will still have to pay for her visit there but I am reaching, and she is my baby. I am going to change her food because a male cat of mines years ago got a blockage from that darn purina and I am giving it to her now and it cost me for his surgery but I could pay it then. She is still peeing in her litter box at this time so I want to catch it before my whole house smells lol I have carpet.

Ger her meds first if they were prescribed and try to work out payment for the visit. If she has a urinary infection it'll get worse if not treated properly with prescription antibiotic medication.

I think when our cats are used to having the run of the household and it is "their" household when someone comes into the picture, takes up their space, doesn't like them or treat them nicely then we might see some behaviors such as urinating (marking) their territory and doing it where the person they don't like or don't want to be there spends much time (this can go for behavior geared at another animal too like another cat or dog).

However if you cat does have an infection if you want the cat to be healthy you have to treat it with the medicine prescribed just like you would do for one of your children.

At least this is my opinon. Sorry your daughter has moved into your space and isn't respecting your pet. Hope things will resolve soon enough and everyone can be happy.

Well the daughter thing will be fixed because she is moving out, when my daughter noticed it the first time I said oh no not my sheba she don't do things like that lol. I saw her and we were the only ones in the house I said omg you don't like her do you until my flower pot that happens to be in my room and now my room is uh stinkin. I can so hurt her but that's my baby. My thing is she has to suffer until Wed when I can give her something today that is why I was asking about the over the counter meds.

I think the only thing there is in the way of OTC meds is something for pain and that's for humans~ like AZO which is a urinary tract analgesic. This does the same thing as Pyridium in humans and makes the urine appear dark pink/red tho does calm down the burning which anyone who has had a UTI knows can be quite painful. You don't want to use human medication on your cat. I'm sorry if your cat has to suffer until Weds as that's a pretty long time to go with a urinary tract infection and it can go beyond the bladder and damage the kidneys if left too long if this is a UTI. The other thing is that you may notice blood in the urine if it's a bladder infection and it worsens.

When I take my cat to the Vet and it's a UTI they get an antibiotic injection right there and then I start the meds the next day or in the evening depending on time of the injection.

I'm glad to hear your daughter is moving out and hopefully then once your cat is treated for the urinary tract infection (as long as that was diagnosed) things will go back to normal. Our animals do try to tell us things in their own way and that's what we have to remember when we get frustrated with their behavior.

Others here have had to buy certain products to get rid of urine smell in the household to so please either ask directly what people used or look it up in some other threads here. I remember someone saying not to wipe it down with water or something of that nature as the enzymatic cleaners work best if used on the stain before anything else is applied. Check for some past threads about urinating or peeing outside the litter box and you'll find the names of some of these cleaners. Good luck and hope Sheba feels better ASAP!

Thank you so much and I am not frustrated with her either because I had a male cat who had it and he had to have surgery so I knew something was wrong with her and so I told everyone from the door not to mess with her and not to be angry with her. The smell I don't even smell it at all I mean when I get close to my plant I can kind of but I don't smell it and no one as said the house stink except from that they notice the odor in the couch. The funny thing is I was planning on throwing it out when she left anyway so I told them to leave it right there until I can get her well so that she will not start peeing somewhere else in the house then I will have a problem. I have not seen blood yet but she has not used her litter box tonight yet and I know her schedule. I also notice that she is dripping too because of the scoop away I use it is just little drops in the box when she do go. I have to change her food so if you all can tell me what you feed your persians that had it already? I know the food use to cost me when I had my male cat but he was not persian and that cat clinic now cost so much money from when I lived in Philadelphia before. I most have been down south too long but everything seem to be so high now.

Oh forgot to ask you how much are the shots?
