We got to visit George today at the hospital and stayed with him for 2 hours. He looked well and has not lost any weight which they are very pleased about. His lymphoma is not the 'typical' that they see in cats, they usually have small cell or large cell but George's is medium cell. It is also deeper in the tissues rather than on the upper layers so the endoscopic biopsies would have been of no use. They think he is a good candidate for chemotherapy and so I am going to give him the chance. We start treatment next saturday, They recommended starting him on the milder form which is tablets and then recheck him in a month with bloods and ultrasound to see how he is responding. Best case scenario is he could go into remission for 18 months.
He gave us some loves when we got there and then I put my padded red coat on the table and he scrambled into it and settled down. He loves to snuggle up in a coat so I am going to bring one in for him tomorrow that he uses here at home.
I am feeling a little more positive today. I know it could go either way, but by giving him this chance I know that I have done everything possible to give him a good quality of life for as long as I can.
