We had fireworks here in Bathurst on Sunday to
finish off our Hospitality Days.
I didn't take this picture, but thought the colours so
pretty, I'd share..
Hope it doesn't post too small for viewing..

Image

To give credit where credit is due, it was taken by a local professional photographer, Christopher Lovegrove....

Very pretty, do you have that every year at this time? We have fireworks on the 4th, of course, and then on the 24th of July. The 24th is just a Utah holiday to celebrate the pioneers arriving in Utah. We took our kids to Disney Land one year over the 24th and I thought the fireworks were celebrating the 24th  Having never gone out of Utah over the 24th I didn't realize the rest of the country could care less when Utah was settled

Wow! I can never get the fireworks to look like that! Mine look dull on my digital and never really pick up those vibrant colors. Over the water is so neat because the reflections make it even more beautiful!
Now that picture does the fireworks justice!!!!! That is beautiful Joan!!!!

What else do you do for the hospitality days?

Yes, every summer this happens. :D
There were a lot of different activities planned,
from things for kids to things for seniors.
Local entertainment nightly, both at the Promenade
and at this huge tent they put up in one of the parking lots
along the Boulevard.
They usually bring in a "big name" peformer..this year it
was NAZERETH...popular in Canada..leans towards hard rock,
not my cup of tea...but sold out...

There was a parade on Sunday..and we took in the lobster supper at the
Curling Club after that.
Main Street was blocked off all day Saturday, and they had an Antique Car show, a Chopper Bike show, a Crossfit competition, a 3 on 3 basketball tournament all on the street.
There were Kayak rides in the Bay, a horse pull competition, a rock guitar competion, oh, not to forget the Parade of Lights, just before the fireworks, when the boats at the Marina down the beach came up to the harbour in town with their boats all decorated in lights.

There was a Special Olympics Dance
A festival golf tournament
Senior's card party and scrabble
SPCA Animal Day
Game day and penny circus
Seniors ring toss and horseshoe tournament
Special Olympics bowling tournament

and a bunch of other stuff..
Started on Tuesday and ended on Sunday evening...

aww thanks so much! :)

That is a great picture though and I believe that the photographer probably used a method of keeping the shutter open using a remote....and in between firework bursts placed something flat and dark over the lens. That way you can get multiple fireworks in one picture without overexposing and ruining it. He must have taken just one long picture and that was it. I know I tried it a couple times but holding the shutter open for a long time causes the camera to process for a long time...so I would assume after he finally finished the camera was probably sitting there processing for a LONG time. That's why I just tried to get separate pictures...but I would love to do something like this one day. Its why photographers often have more that one camera...I just can't convince my husband of this. LOL
