I need some ideas on intermittent limping.

Clarissa will suddenly start limping (right rear foot), not putting it down at all. I've picked her up several times and checked for cactus spines (which dogs bring in) or something else. Nothing. I've also felt the leg to see if a joint is sore or a bone is broken/bruised and she never winces in pain. When I put her down, she runs off normally on all 4 feet. Sometimes the limping lasts 30 seconds, sometimes 2 minutes. Sometimes she limps for 4 steps and then runs fine.

The only thing I can think of is a previous injury and this is a habit? Anybody know anything about hip displasia in Persians? Any other ideas?

Dunno Linda...maybe a bit of arthritis??
I know she is a little on the young side for this..
but you never know..
You know how sometimes you sit with maybe your leg curled up
under you, then you get up and go in another room, and you get
this limp? Maybe something like that??

ok, this might seem like a really stupid question but I have my reasons, so here goes: does she limp where there might be water on the floor or the edge of an area rug? I ask this because some of mine will do that if they step near the edge of a rug or on a rug (like the bathmat) that they don't like. They will also hobble across part of the kitchen floor where the dogs drip water and then resume on all 4 again where the floor is dry.

Not stupid -- but no to the water. The rug, maybe. I'll have to see if this fits the pattern because she really only limps in the bathroom, only once have I seen it in the bedroom.

Joan -- I don't even want to think about arthritis in a 6-8month old cat. The numb foot might also fit.

Limping spreadsheet, here I come!

I'm betting it's from a previous injury and she just does something to aggravate it.

Does it get worse with the weather? Or when she just wakes up?

My grandma has a chihuahua that broke her leg when she was a puppy, she is 8 and still limps occasionally.

Sending hugs to CLarissa

Linda,
Has she had the sniffles or URI? If so I would consider limping Calici. Here is a link to an article about it.

Linda, just a thought would be be any good trying to add some Glucosamine powder into Clarissa's diet just to see if it would help. :?: :?:
Maybe there might be a little stiffness in her joint, is she limping when she jumps down from being up high like in the kitchen photo

Any probs with her nails or toe pads? I'm guessing if you checked for cactus spines you've definately checked these areas out re r/o anything.

Maybe she has a momentary spasm of a ligament, maybe connective tissue prob..

I was just getting ready to ask when her last vaccines were for this very reason. I had 3 litters in 3 separate rooms ALL come down with limping Calici exactly 5 weeks after their 2nd vaccines. It was a bad batch of vaccines -- Eclipse 3. Something to consider. Also, if it is limping Calici...they will limp on various feet....not always but often the limping will move from one foot to another and back again. And none of mine had any URI symptoms except for one kitten. Clavamox will cure this.

Keep us posted.
