I know we are all heavy hearted today with news of Maggie, so I thought I would share a funny story.

First of all - I am the most clumsy person on the face of this earth. If I make it a whole day without tripping or spilling something on myself, I am proud.
Second of all - As most of you know, I am the most un-domestic woman alive. It is a wonder I am able to feed myself on a daily basis without giving myself food poisoning or burning the house down.

So, last night Chunkers threw up at four am. He is totally fine today, I think he eats too quickly and too much and then gets sick. I digress. So, I didn't get much sleep.

So I decided to take a nap today. When I woke up, I could smell laundry detergent. I was doing laundry so I thought "oh wow, this new washing machine makes the whole house smell good". WRONG. It had leaked all over the floor. And of COURSE, the first thing Chunk and PPP do is run and play in it. Soooo 30 minutes and lots of paw-rinsing later, I call my apt complex. I'm a little irritated since I just moved in, but I'm always very kind. I have to wait two hours until the maintenance man shows up. This means putting PPP & PCC in the bedroom so they can't romp through the soapy mess. Clearly, the first logical thing for Chunk to do was immediately take a giant shadoobie so my entire room smelled like butt.

So, the guy shows up. He is in there looking around at things, and he says "uhhh, Ma'am.?"
"yes."
"This isn't a leak, your laundry detergent just fell on the side of the machine and spilled all over"

Most embarrassing thing ever.  I am such an idiot and a turd.

OH, and have you ever tried to rinse a WHOLE container of laundry detergent off the floor. It takes FOREVER. The floor is still kind of sticky, but I think I got it 90% up. The kitties are finally allowed out of the bedroom. Sigh..

  Good one Kira! Isn't it always so embarrassing when the repairman comes and points those kinds of things out? Luckily, I am married to "Mr who can fix anything" from computers to appliances to cars, so he is good about not laughing at me, and he has taught me a lot of what to look for when there is a problem.

   Kira, you are right that we all need a laugh and this is a good one.

Reminds me once when we were poor college students and were out of laundry soap so we used dish washing soap in the laundry instead. Of course we misjudged and used way too much dish washing soap and had bubbles coming out the cloths washer and fill up the kitchen.

Kira you may want to consider moving to another place, you may never want to call the repairman again
:o :o
Years ago Jim had a delivery route when he was a sales rep for a coffee company. One time his truck quit on him in a small town about 200 miles from home. He coasted as far as he could then walked into town and called the office, he had to get a room for the night and the next morning the repair guy showed up with a tow truck. After fiddling around for a few minutes he flipped a switch and the truck started right up :?

The guy said to Jim, the next time you run out of gas try switching tanks before calling me

Hmmmm are you sure the guys did not tip the detergent off the machine so they had fun to play in it?????

I keep mine in a sort of tupper container with a fixed lid :)

Oh yes and the best thing I did was call a repairman when the TV did not work and he came and said have you tried plugging it in???

I am sure Elsa had run around the cords or I did that myself when vaccuuming and pulled it out. Anyway, we woman have a bonus when it comes to technical stuff don't we???

LOL, bet you don't do that again, Kira!

Look at it this way: we learn by making mistakes. :)

Might be more difficult to get the repairman to come by next time though...

Kira, my dear, you need to take a Home Ec course

Seroiusly though...we have all done silly "mistakes" like this.
At least you didnt have to pay for a service call!!

My favourite is putting a pot on the stove, waiting for the darn thing
to boil, then realize I have turned on the wrong burner

Cleaning up that soap must be worse than cleaning up a dropped raw egg ;)

Purrs,
Joan

I have one...

The house I bought with my ex in Virginia had one of those super large tubs the ones that take up the entire corner of the bathroom...with jets. I loved that * tub. Did not use it as often as I should have because you could go eat lunch while it filled up LOL. So anyways...when I was moving my stuff out of the house, John came to help me. Jeff was at out with his mom for lunch I knew he would be gone for a while. I had told John...I want to use that tub one more time before I leave my house. So he brought bubble bath. I was busy putting stuff in a suitcase when the tub was filling so I did not notice how much bubble bath he put in the tub. It was too much! It was not very bad at first, we got in the tub and there were a lot of bubbles..but then I turned on the jets and holy crap. Bubbles started going everywhere. The whole bathroom floor was covered with bubbles. I was so freaked out. Jeff and I were cool...I mean the whole last year we were together we had broken up a couple times and got back together because...well we lived together...but we were really just friends who fought a lot. We are still friends to this day. But I knew he would be P-I-S-S-E-D if he knew we used the tub. It took us like an hour to clean up the mess...we had to use towels and then dry them in the dryer.

While all this was going on I started smelling smoke. I ran all over the house searching for the smell totally freaking out because it was really bad something was definitely on fire somewhere. I ran downstairs and immediately knew it was coming from the fish tank...not just any fish tank....a 150 gallon saltwater fish tank. So now I have filled the bathroom with bubbles and the fish tank is on fire....holy * right?! Thankfully the tank was not "on fire" but one of the ballasts for the lights had I guess shorted out and melted and the bulb was messed up pretty bad...

Image

See all the lights? So they are pretty powerful and I was scared to leave it on. So I had to turn the fish tank off. The fish can't go too long without the temperature being regulated so I had to call Jeff who did not answer his phone so I had to call his mom which was the first time I had spoken to her since Jeff and I broke up. Awkward!

So yeah that was pretty much the most terrible moving day ever. lol
